Technical Analyst / UX

In this role you will use your analytical skills to collaboratively define and align on a project’s requirements and vision, prototype application interfaces, validate assumptions through user testing, and more. You should be familiar with tasks from the discovery phase to the design phase, knowing “the what, when and why” behind relevant activities in each phase. Your deliverables, packaged to be easily sold internally and to clients, will range from project description documents, to stakeholder interview questions, to project requirements, to wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and testing assets.

You should be able to identify opportunities for improvement and be comfortable giving constructive feedback, and influencing without authority. The ideal candidate will be naturally analytical and empathetic, able to explain technical or complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You’ll need to be proficient at cross-team collaboration and communication, as you’ll be working with product owners, managers, analysts, designers, QA, developers, and clients from a variety of diverse industries.

Responsibilities*

  • Facilitate our clients’ product visions by researching, ideating, sketching, and testing high-quality user experiences for digital products
  • Identify problems and devise solutions, taking intelligent risks and championing ideas with consideration towards the product vision and overarching goals
  • Translate concepts into deliverables: wireframes, user stories, user journeys and more, with consideration towards optimization for a range of devices, device sizes, and interfaces. Ideally this extends to finalized design mockup creation
  • Work with stakeholders to understand and define project requirements, audience, metrics, and vision, while being mindful of the technical and design aspects of implementation
  • Work with the technical lead(s) to identify technical implementation options, and work with project managers and developers during the implementation phase to find creative solutions to challenges and obstacles
  • Facilitate creating work breakdowns and estimates
  • Work within established processes and assist in the improvement of existing processes and procedures, as well as developing new processes where applicable
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions based on theory and research related to new, core and future functions and features
  • Take a user-centered design approach to rapidly test and iterate the teams design(s)
  • Collaborate with other team members (analysts, designers, developers, product owners, QA, project managers) and client stakeholders
  • Keep yourself and your team up to date on UX and analysis best practices and trends with processes, software, and knowledge
  • Bonus if you have experience working with project managers and developers to create risk charters for projects, as well as identifying and mitigating budget risks

Qualification, Experience, & Education

  • Past experience in an analyst, user experience design, and/or product design role with experience in the development of web and/or mobile applications
  • Post secondary education relating to any (combination) of the following: visual communications, design, psychology, research, informatics, UX design, interaction design, HCI, computer science, business
  • Expertise in UX software such as Axure RP, InVision, Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, LucidChart, etc
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate concisely and effectively (written and verbal) within high-level technical context, to own and produce documents presented to stakeholders
  • Experience writing project requirements, in user story format, with detailed acceptance criteria/feature documentation
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) to convey suggestions, ideas, designs, and solutions to the internal team and clients through presentations, documents, designs, diagrams, and more
  • Experience with user-centered design, usability, accessibility and testing methodologies
  • Involved and passionate with UX and design at large as demonstrated by knowledge of current trends, best practices, and technologies
